Addictions Nursing Certification Review: Practice Question Supplement for the CARN and CARN-AP Examinations
This document was created to provide registered nurses and advanced practice nurses with practice questions to assist in preparation for the Certified Addiction Registered Nurse (CARN) and Certified Addiction Registered Nurse – Advance Practice (CARN‐AP) examinations through the Addiction Nursing Certification Board (ANCB). Practice questions and associated rationales were developed based on current best practices in substance use disorders and process addictions care to assess knowledge of the practice activity and patient presentation domains outlined in the ANCB blueprint revisions for the CARN and CARN-AP examinations as of July 2022. Addictions Nursing Certification Board (ANCB)
Visit the ANCB website for information on the CARN/CARN-AP certification, eligibility requirements, resources, and a certificant directory. The ANCB has a primary purpose to provide a mechanism for a quality nursing specialty certification for addictions nursing by promoting the development, implementation, and coordination of all aspects of certification and recertification.

CARN/CARN-AP Exam Review Course
BMC Grayken Center for Addiction TTA's CARN/CARN-AP Exam Review Course is a free review course for Registered Nurses (RNs) and Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRNs) working in the addiction field who have an interest in becoming a Certified Addictions Registered Nurse (CARN) or a Certified Addictions Registered Nurse - Advanced Practice (CARN-AP). The course is intended to support nurses studying for the certification exam by reviewing the material the exam will cover and providing additional educational resources relevant to the exam, as well as test-taking tips and strategies.
