This training is part 5 of 8 for the training series that will provide APPs the additional 16 hours to meet the requirements to obtain a MAT Certificate

Advanced Practice Practitioners (APPs) must complete 24 hours of specialized training to obtain a waiver to prescribe buprenorphine—an eight-hour MAT waiver training course plus an additional 16 hours of training. Until now, the additional 16 hours has primarily been available through online, pre-recorded modules.
Boston Medical Center’s OBAT TTA is proud to announce a no-cost, live training series that will provide APPs the additional 16 hours to meet these requirements. This training was developed by and for APPs.
The 5th session in this series is titled "Pain Management in OUD and Management of OUD in Pregnancy." It will be offered December 14th from 6pm-8pm ET.
Nurse Practitioners, Certified Nurse Midwifes (CNM), Clinical Nurse Specialists (CNS), Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNA), and Physician Assistants
Describe risk factors for opioid misuse, opioid use disorder (OUD), and overdose in patients with chronic pain
Describe non-opioid treatment approaches for chronic pain
Explain methods for screening and assessment for problematic opioid use
Explain methods for monitoring and evaluating patients prescribed opioids for chronic pain to mitigate risks
Describe best practices for the use of medications for opioid use disorder in pregnancy
Compare and contrast the risks and benefits of methadone and buprenorphine treatment during pregnancy for mother and fetus
Identify at least three factors that are associated with reducing neonatal abstinence syndrome (NAS) severity among babies that are prenatally exposed to methadone or buprenorphine
Identify at least 3 important considerations in caring for PPPW for the SUD treatment provider.
