Topic: ECHO
As part of the twice-monthly SUD Care Continuum ECHO® series, Tae Woo (Ted) Park, MD, will discuss benzodiazepine pharmacology and associated risks, particularly when combined with other substances, and develop skills to identify, assess, and manage benzodiazepine use and withdrawal in patients with substance use disorders. The didactic will be followed by a de-identified patient case presentation from an ECHO® participant and recommendations from the panel of experts and attendees.

Topic: Cannabis & Nicotine
This training focuses on increasing awareness and clinical knowledge around cannabis use among youth in the United States. Participants will examine current data on youth cannabis use, compare at least three common cannabis products and routes of administration, and learn to recognize symptoms of cannabinoid hyperemesis syndrome. The session also highlights two evidence-based interventions that support cannabis cessation in adolescents.

Topic: Pain
This training introduces evidence-based approaches that complement conventional pain management strategies. Participants will learn to incorporate at least two integrative therapies into a multimodal treatment plan to enhance patient outcomes. The training also explores common barriers to implementing these therapies in clinical settings and practical solutions to overcome them. This course supports a holistic, patient-centered approach to pain care.

Topic: Alcohol
This training is designed to provide an introductory overview of alcohol use disorders. We will explore the latest epidemiological data, with a focus on the prevalence and trends of alcohol use and alcohol use disorders in the United States. Diagnostic criteria and screening tools to assess for alcohol use disorders will be discussed. Additionally, we will examine evidence-based interventions to treat alcohol use disorders and support individuals in their recovery.

This training aims to increase learners’ understanding of kratom prevalence, misuse patterns, and clinical management. The activity provides evidence-based content that enables healthcare providers to accurately characterize kratom use, recognize signs and symptoms of kratom intoxication and withdrawal, and understand associated health risks. Improved knowledge is expected to reduce under-recognition of kratom-related concerns and promote more informed, consistent, and patient-centered care across interprofessional practice settings.

The didactic will be followed by a de-identified patient case presentation from an ECHO® participant and recommendations from the panel of experts and attendees.

Attendees will learn to identify at least three common cannabis product types, evaluate product labels including THC:CBD ratios, and understand how different formulations influence user experience and health outcomes.
